These dainty, delicate and delicious baked biscuits will definitely win the heart of your beloved this valentines season. Here’s a quick and simple recipe to bake for your sweet Valentine!
Hearts and Roses Biscuit Recipe
This recipe makes 1.2kg biscuits
Ingredients
230gram butter
230gram margarine
340g castor sugar
2 XL egg yolks
5ml vanilla essence
600g sifted cake flour
50g cornflour
5ml salt
Extra:
2ml Rosewater
3ml pink rose food colouring ( powder)
Method
Work with an electric food mixer
Cream butter, margarine and sugar until light and fluffy
Add egg yolks and vanilla essence and beat for one minute.
Sift flour and cornflour and salt into a bowl, slowly add the butter mixture until well blended. Divide the mixture into eight and roll into logs and chill or freeze for later use.
Pipe or Roll into shapes and bake ( makes 100 biscuits)
HOW TO SHAPE THE BISCUITS
Take one eighth of the mixture and divide into two.
To the one half add the pink food colouring powder and the rosewater.
Knead to combine the colour and flavour into the dough and chill.
Roll out the plain vanilla piece of the dough to 1.2 cm in thinkness.
Use a round circular cutter to cut the biscuit about 7.5cm in diameter.
Now take a smaller heart shape cutter and cut a heart out of the centre of the plain vanilla biscuit.
Repeat this to form for 4 – 6 biscuits
Now roll out the pink piece of biscuit dough to 1/2cm thickness
Take the heart cutter and cut out 4 – 6 heart shapes.
Fit the pink hearts into the space of the heart shape that was cut out of the vanilla biscuit.
Place onto a baking sheet and bake at 180 degrees Celcius for 15 – 20 minutes until a light golden brown.
